About KVK
Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s are established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi to accomplish the job of transfer of technology in the field of agriculture for the benefit of farming community in general. The basic objective is to increase the agricultural production in the country and to improve the living standard of people.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level organization engaged in transfer of latest technologies to the farming community of the district. KVK acts as a bridge between the research organization and farmers that works for solving the location specific problems (issues) of farming community in agriculture and allied fields.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Padampur has been established in 2004 under the administrative control of Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University (SKRAU), Bikaner with full financial assistance from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through ICAR-ATARI Zone-II.
Location
KVK is located at Padampur Tehsil, Jaitsar Raod, which is 37 KM towards South from District head quarters Sri Ganganagar.
Mandates of KVK
- Organize front line demonstrations on various crops on proven technologies to generate production data and feed-back information.
- Conducting on farm testing for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use system.
- Organize short term and long term vocational training courses in agricultural and allied sectors for farmers and rural youths with the emphasis on learning by doing for higher production on farms and generating self employment.
- Organize trainings to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
- Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.
