About KVK

Krishi Vigyan Kendra is an innovative district level science based institution engaged in transfer of latest agricultural technologies to the farming community for bridging the gap between production and productivity.

Location

KVK is located at Padampur Tehsil, Jaitsar Raod, which is 37 KM towards South from District head quarters Sri Ganganagar.

Mandates of KVK

  • Organize front line demonstrations on various crops on proven technologies to generate production data and feed-back information.
  • Conducting on farm testing for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use system.
  • Organize short term and long term vocational training courses in agricultural and allied sectors for farmers and rural youths with the emphasis on learning by doing for higher production on farms and generating self employment.
  • Organize trainings to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
  • Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.

Thrust areas

  1. To enhance the productivity & quality of major crops, like- Cotton, Cluster bean, Green gram, Wheat, Chickpea and Mustard through integrated crop management.
  2. To popularize integrated nutrient, weed and pest management among farmers.
  3. To encouraging farmers for organic farming for sustainable agriculture through natural farming system using compost, vermi-compost, FYM and through moisture conservation technology.
  4. To promote modern dairy farming and back yard poultry.
  5. To extend the area under fruit orchards, vegetable farming and popularize techniques of nursery raising and its proper management.
  6. To motivate the farmers, farm women and rural youth for self-employment and income generation through bee- keeping, mushroom cultivation, dairy farming and Poultry.
  7. Introducing employment generation activities for farm women through value addition in agricultural produce , fruit and vegetable etc.
  8. To motivate the farmers for fish farming.
